How To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

A lot people always want to know how they can get free traffic to their website.  There are actually MANY different strategies, but today I want to share one with you that I think you’ll enjoy (whether you have an intern to help you implement it or not).

One of the best ways to get free traffic to your website is to use SEO or “Search Engine Optimization”.  This means making your website more easily found when people look in the search engines for information.

One of the best ways to improve your rankings in the search engines is to get as many “1 way incoming links” as possible.  So what is a 1 way link?  It’s a link from a different website pointing back to yours.

The problem, especially for a lot of new people, is how do you get those all important 1 way links to your website?  It has to happen “organically” when people find your site and then write about it and give you a link back…but this can take a VERY long time.

So what is a shortcut to getting more links?

Well here’s a little secret we’re about to let you in on…

There’s a free WordPress plugin called “Top Commentators” that a lot of bloggers  install on their blogs that tracks and ranks the number of comments a people leave on their blog.

But why does this matter to you?

Well the Top Commentators plugin actually lists the top 10 commentators on EVERY PAGE of the bloggers’ blog WITH a one-way link back to the commentators website!

Can you see where this is going?

If you are ranked as one of the top 10 commentators on a blog with say 100 pages
you’ll instantly get 100 one-way links pointing back to YOUR website!

How powerful is that? What if the blog had 10,000 webpages?

So here’s what you need to do next:

You need to find blogs that are using the Top Commentator plugin (do a Google search) and you need to make comments on blogs that are RELATED to your niche, and make the comments relevant and useful.

So where do you start?

Well last week we just installed the “Top Commentators” plugin.  You’ll see it on the side of the blog.  Obviously because we only just installed it we have only a handful of comments.  But as we grow and blog more we’ll have more and more pages (and more and more comments).

So you can instantly start getting more quality one-way back links simply by leaving a comment on our blog every time we put up a new blog post.  Our advice to you is to start with this post.  Just leave a comment below and let us know if you like this strategy, and be sure to include your website when you fill out the comments form!

Of course if all of this sounds like “a lot of work” have you considered hiring a blogging or SEO intern to help you do this?  It would be a lot easier if you had some help finding the blogs to comment on, and leaving the comments as well.

Whether you (or your intern) does the blog commenting, an easy way to get started is to just leave a comment on this blog post.

Hopefully you found this tip helpful.  In our next blog post, we’ll show you how you can get your own WordPress blog (just like ours) set up for only 1 penny.  Again, this is something that you can either do yourself or hire an intern and have them help you with it.  Either way, our next blog post will show you how to set up your own blog for just 1 penny, so stay tuned (and be ready to leave more comments).

    Hi Gavin,

I just googled “blog with top commentators plugin” and a bunch of resources and results came up. Of course, assigning this task to your intern would be perfect as well!

  5. Clever!! That is a win-win, really – it helps motivate readers to join the conversation (the blogger can get great feedback), and the top commentators get one-way links out of it!
